Recipe: Hershey's Kiss Holiday Sugar Cookies

Looking for a sweet treat perfect for the holiday season? Well here it is. The Hershey's Kiss Cookies! To better assist, I broke the recipe down into the wet ingredients and the dry ingredients.

What you will need:

  • Cookie baking sheet
  • Hand mixer
  • Large spoon
  • 2 large mixing bowls
  • Measuring cups & spoons
  • Hershey's Kiss Chocolates
  • Food coloring (optional)
Dry Ingredients:
3 cups flour
1 teaspoon  baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients:
1 cup (2 sticks) softened butter
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 cup sugar
2 teaspoons hot water
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 eggs

Pre-heat your oven to 350 degrees. Begin by taking 1 large bowl and placing in all of your dry ingredients. Once all 3 are in, stir the mixture to assure that everything is evenly distributed. Set the dry ingredients bowl aside. Now combine all of your wet ingredients. Be sure to eliminate any lumps that may have formed from the brown sugar. Once everything is added, again stir the mixture to assure that everything is evenly distributed. You should have a rich amber colored mixture. Now take your dry mixture again, and create a well in the center of the mixture. Gently pour your wet mixture into your dry mixture. Taking your mixer, combine all ingredients to form a dough. Be sure to take a spoon and scrape down your sides while mixing. Now, if you wish to use food coloring in your cookies, do so now. If you want multiple colors, simply separate the dough into separate bowls, and add your food coloring in. Next, put your dough in the freezer for 10 minutes. While your dough is in the freezer, you can begin spraying your baking sheets with a light coating of cooking spray. After 10 minutes, remove the dough from the freezer. Begin forming balls out of the dough. Approx. 1.5" balls are good. Place them on your cookie sheet, and give them plenty of room as they do spread out quite a bit. Finally take a unwrapped Hershey's Kiss chocolate, and place it in the middle of your cookie dough ball, and gently press down. Bake for 10 minutes.

I hope you enjoy this tasty recipe!

Review: Pentel EnerGel-X Pen

Retail Price: $1.90

So we all have used a gel pen at one point in our lives. I'll be honest, I never thought much of gel pens. I always found them to be streaky, and just not up to the same quality as a regular ink pen. However, with the Pentel EnerGel-X gel pen, my mind has completely changed.

This pen writes like a dream. It is so smooth and "creamy". It is smoother than most of the ink pens I own as well. I have been using it on my Christmas cards to add a little pop of color, and it has performed beautifully.

Pros: Smooth writing, pretty colors, affordable price.

Cons: None

Review: Hartz Dentists Best Dental Treats For Cats

Retail Price: $2.99

First and foremost, let me introduce everyone to my little pumpkin, Anna. She is a 12 year old little princess that I have had since she was a tiny kitten. She is SUPER fussy when it comes to what she eats. She hates human food, and strictly only eats cat foods. She doesn't like any fish flavored products, poultry only. So finding treats for her, that will help her breath are very hard to come by.

I was in Walmart looking for a cat treat that would help clean her teeth, and freshen her breath when I stumbled upon these cat treats. I was so happy when I saw they were a chicken flavor, I thought they might stand a chance with her. So I purchased them. They were more on the expensive side for cat treats (compared to others in the aisle), but if they worked, then that was fine with me.

I got them home, immediately when she heard the sound of the bag, she came running. I gave her one, and she ate it. And let me tell you, she wanted more! It is to the point now that I have to hide the bag up high where she can't get to them, because if  I don't, she will try to claw and chew open the bag to get them. Shes a very determined kitty.

After using these for about 2 months, I have noticed a huge difference in her breath. Before, I'll be honest, her breath was ripe. It could curl your hair. Now, it is normal kitty breath. I have re-purchased these already, and plan to keep using them. I really don't think she has any issue with that!

Now, when I was trying to take a blog picture of the treats, you can see what happened. She just loves them, I mean look at her face! Its love! I HIGHLY recommend these to anyone with a kitty. Bad breath or not, they are great!

Pros: Cat loves these, available at Walmart, fights bad breath, cat loves it!

Cons: None!

*These were purchased with my own money. This is NOT a sponsored blog.

Review: NYC New York Color Showtime Glitter Eyeliner

Retail Price: $2.49

I have been a HUGE fan of NYC New York Color products for many many years. If you peek into my makeup stash, you will see quite a few NYC that I use in my daily routine. But to my amazement, I did not have a eyeliner pencil from them. So naturally I was excited to try this out.

I love eyeliner pencils, they are easy to use, not messy, and great to complete any look. I however do not like having to pay over $15 for some pencils as with other companies. So the first thing I like about this is of course the price. Very affordable, and in this economy, that's always a bonus perk.

Now as for the pencil itself... I like it. It was much more pigmented than I was expecting. The glitter is beautiful, not too much, not too little. It's the Goldilocks of glitter liners. Very easy application, no tugging or pulling on my skin. Looks great at night for that extra zing. My only recommendation is to use a black eye shadow of your choice and set the pencil after putting on. I find this helps the liner stay put for longer.

Pros: Smooth application, opaque color, beautiful glitter.

Cons: Doesn't stay on for 5 hours + if not set with a black eye shadow.

Review: Broadway Nails Impress Press-On Manicure in Wink Wink

Retail Price: $7.99

Want a fast 5 minute manicure for a night out? These are definitely for you. I decided to give my friend a manicure makeover with these beautiful nails. They come in a cute nail polish shaped container, with 24 different nail sizes. No glue, no mess, no fuss. Beautifully designed, and very flexible.

Okay, so starting off, I used the included pad to clean her nails of any imperfections. Then I went on to match nail sizes. I did have a hard time finding some to fit the thumb just right. A few more sizes would have been fantastic. Once I found all 10 nails that best fit her nails, it was easy applying them. Just removing a plastic piece, placing it on the nail, and pressing down. In a matter of 5 minutes her nails went from drab to fab. This would be great for a event or party.

As far as lasting up to a week, I think it depends on what you do in your normal day to day life. She works in a office and is typing all day long. The nails stayed on for 4 days. Removal was easy, just a little nail polish remover and they came right off. Her one complaint was that some of the nails were just too long. And she didn't want to cut them, since it would ruin the design.

Overall, I would more so recommend these for those moments when you want a quick and fast manicure.
For long term use, I am not too sure. Would I buy them? Yes, but only for special occasions.

Pros: Easy application, many different designs, easy to use, fast, simple.
Cons: Not made for larger nails, too long.

Recipe: Easy Chicken Pot Pie

4 Cooked chicken breasts
12 oz Frozen Corn
12 oz Frozen Peas
21 oz Chicken gravy (I used two 10.5 oz cans)
1 tbsp. Mrs. Dash Chicken Grilling Blends seasoning (or any chicken seasoning of your choice)
9”Rolled pie crust ( I used 2 to cover my entire pot pie)

Pre-heat your oven to 375 degrees F. Using kitchen shears, cut the cooked chicken breasts into bite size pieces. In your chosen baking dish, lightly spray the dish with a cooking spray. Now combine gravy, peas and corn. Once you have a even blend, add your chicken pieces into the dish and mix together until well distributed. Take your seasoning, and yet again mix into your pot pie mixture. Now unroll your pie crusts, and place the crust on top of your pot pie mixture. If you need to use 2 rolls, you can either cut the 2nd into a size you need, or simply just lay it over the other with some bits overlapping. Take a fork and poke holes into the top of the pie crust in various spots over the pie for steam to be released. Finally place this into your oven for 1 hour. Once cooked, allow to rest for 10 minutes before serving!

This dish can be used to stretch for a couple meals, and tastes wonderfully being reheated in a microwave.

Review: Energy Sheets Mint Boost

Retail Price: $5.95

The idea behind these energy boosting sheets is genius. Great for people on the go, they claim to quickly dissolve on your tongue and boost your energy level.

I was excited to try these out. Who couldn't use a boost of energy every now and then right? I am very familiar with strips like these, I have used the mouthwash ones for years. The package they come in is great travel size. The sheets come individually wrapped, again this is also great. They were a little bit bigger than what I was expecting, but this wasn't a issue. Once I put the strip on my tongue, I could begin tasting the mint flavor. Soon it became almost unbearable  The flavor was like using a whole package of the mouthwash strips. It without a doubt freshened my breath for the next 20 years. While on my tongue, it did not quickly dissolve as I was hoping. It felt very slimy on my tongue, and I was very tempted to spit it out. But I stuck through it. Shortly after it dissolved, I had this strong funky after taste. It was nasty.

Did it give me any energy. I think it did for a little while. Would I buy these or use them again? Probably not, unless I eat onions with a side of garlic. I really think they could be onto something if they improved the formula a bit.

Pros: Did boost energy, easy to travel with, no sugar or calories.

Cons: Bad strong mint flavor, horrible after taste, energy wasn't too long lasting.

Review: Necco Tropical Wafers

Retail Price: $1.25

These little guys came in my Influenster College VoxBox. Before I even opened the box I could smell something fruity. It smelled like fruit heaven. I was excited to see what it was. Once I saw what they were, I was kind of hesitant. My mother used to love to eat the original Necco wafers. I tried many times to like them, but they just weren't my thing. But when I saw the flavors I was open to give them a try.

I tried one of each flavor, which include coconut, passion fruit, strawberry, lime, banana, and mango. Out of all those flavors, the only 2 I could stand eating and didn't spit out was the lime and mango. The strawberry reminded me of a gross medicine, the banana was more like a rotten banana, and the passion fruit was way to over powering. The coconut was just... strange. I strongly believe that Necco wafers are a food that either you like, or you don't. And for me, I just don't.

Pros: Cute classic packaging, good variety of flavors, cheap price.

Cons: Bad tastes, over powering flavors, chalk texture.

Cost To Join: Free!

Alright, since I am sure many might be wondering since I have been speaking of Influenster quite a bit recently, what exactly is it?

Influenster is a website where you can earn points through badges. The more points you earn, the better chance you have at getting a opportunity to receive a box from them with products to review. There are many different sections of badges, in Expert and Lifestyle sections. I really like the variety of badge sections they offer. There is sure to be something for everyone. You can review products, take surveys, and submit your own pages to earn points. Very simple and easy to do!

To join Influenster you need to request a invite, or be invited by a current member. This is nice because it is kind of like a special exclusive club. Some may not like this, but it helps keep those who would be non active users out, and us true members in. It is a fun site, and I highly suggest joining! If you would like a invite, simply comment below or message me on twitter!

Their customer relations is wonderful. I had a question for them, which I asked via their facebook page. Within 20 minutes someone had replied to my question. A+!
As for the boxes. I have received one so far. It came via USPS with 5 full size products to review, along with a information card. The theme was college related. Overall they did a good job at putting the products together to appeal to someone in college.

Pros: Fun, great for bloggers/vloggers, easy to navigate, variety appealing to all.
Cons: Sign up (requesting a invite) may not be for everyone.
