Review: Pine Bros. Softish Throat Drops

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

Website: http://www.pinebrothers.com/
Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/pinebrothers
It's that time of year where those nasty cold and flu viruses seem to catch up with us. For those who have been reading my blog this week, you will know that I caught one of the flu bugs that has been going around. I seem to spend a majority of my day coughing from throat irritation. Cough drops and throat lozenges have been my best friend. So what a better time to review a product specifically made for the throat and mouth.

Pine Bros Softish Throat Drops are a naturally flavored, gluten free, 5 calorie drop that uses glycerin and gum acacia to help soothe and heal a pesky sore throat. They come in a variety of flavors including Natural Honey, Licorice, and Wild Cherry. The Wild Cherry flavor ingredients include: Gum Acacia, Sugar, Corn Syrup, Glycerine, Citric Acid, Natural Flavor, Colored with Elderberry Concentrate, Sun ower Oil, Caranuba Wax.

As their name says, they do have a softer texture to them. They start off fairly hard like a candy, but quickly form into something similar to a chewy gummy texture. It is recommended though to simply let the drop dissolve in your mouth, rather than chewing it. When I opened the container, I did the sniff test, and to my surprise they had a very nice natural cherry aroma. As I said before, I find that I am coughing a lot during the day due to throat irritation, so I put these drops to the test on my throat. My immediate thought once I tried it was "wow these taste really good". They do not have that fake candy like cherry flavor, its a more less sweet and natural flavor which I really enjoyed. I did notice that once the drop started to really dissolve, it lost some of its flavor, and after it was gone left a not so great after taste in my mouth. Nothing horrible or unbearable, but definitely mint worthy. My throat did seem to be less irritated, and I was coughing a lot less. The relief lasts me about a hour with only using 1 drop.

I would recommend these to people to try, they do work, and the thing that I love the most is that they are natural. You can look on the back info panel and read the ingredients and actually understand what is going into these drops. Overall I'd rate them 4 out of 5 stars!

Pros: Natural ingredients, relieve throat irritation, natural flavors, gluten free.
Cons: Give a not pleasant after taste.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Chat- "What Being A Fat Woman Is Really Like"

Today while I was browsing through my bloglovin blogs that I am following, I stumbled upon The Left of Perfect's post about a bit Cosmo had recently published about "What Being A Fat Woman Is Really Like". I was very intrigued by these questions, that I decided to follow along and answer them in a blog post as well.

How do you feel when other women around you complain about feeling/being fat?

It annoys me like no other. Most of the time it is women who are toothpicks seeking attention and affirmation that they are gorgeous, beautiful, thin, etc. You will most likely NEVER seen a fat girl complaining in public about being fat. Maybe at home or such, but not out for all to see and hear.

How has your body image changed since high school? College?

Yes, especially since turning 25. When I was younger, I felt like I was the only big girl in the world. And I would care what people thought of me, and my looks. The older I get, the more I realize that it just doesn't matter. People are going to love you or hate you for whatever reason. Why waste my time worrying about others, and instead take that energy and focus it on myself and those who really matter. I have also come to learn that everyone has something about them they wish they could change. So in reality, we all are on the same playing field.

Have you tried dieting? What happened?

Oh gosh, who hasn't? I have tried dieting, but I have yet to find a way that truly works for me. I'd be unhappy and I'd fall off the wagon. I don't believe in those fad diets where you only eat cabbage for 12 days. I just need to start working on smaller portions, and exercising more.

Do you think in your case your weight is partly or entirely genetic?

I do in a way. My father is a bigger man, and my moms weight has always fluctuated. I don't think genetics is the sole reason, but I believe it might have been a factor.

Do you consider yourself healthy? Have there been instances where people assumed you were unhealthy?

I am healthy in the sense that I have no medical conditions or problems. But I am far FARRRR from being physically fit. And no, never had that issue arise.

Are your parents both supportive of you at the weight you're at? Have they always been?

I honestly don't talk to my family about my weight. I know they both would love to see me at a better lower weight for long term health issues.

How do you think retailers can improve clothes for plus-size people?

Do you seriously have to ask that? Plus size clothing is in a MAJOR need of improvement. The stores that offer plus size clothing, sell things that no plus size woman can either afford, or would want to wear. For example, a store might carry a beautiful shirt, but it will be $50. Or you can find a $15 shirt that is either super low cut, sheer fabric, ugly material, or totally un-flattering to a full figured body. See the problem?

Do you think plus-size women are judged differently than plus-sized men are? How?

Oh gosh yes. Women will overlook a man and his flaws for the most part. But men ridicule women like it's going out of style. They seem to be so obsessed with the looks, they forget all about the things that ultimately matter in a person.

Do you think there’s an assumption made/stereotype that exists about plus-size people? How would you respond to it?

Yes, of course there is. I simply say you can't make mass judgement about people. Everyone is different. Sure some fat people are lazy, but so are some skinny people. Sure some fat people are unhealthy, but again so are some skinny people. So on and so forth.

Do you think there’s ever a right way or time to express concern about someone’s weight?

Yes, but don't be too pushy. Most overweight people already know they are fat, and want to lose weight. But many times it's more than just eating less and working out more.

What are the worst things people have said to you about your body?

Probably when I was a kid, of course I would be teased for being big. But as a adult, no one has ever really said anything to my face. I'm sure I get it behind my back, but psssh who cares?

What have people said (or do you wish they’d say) that would compliment your body or appearance?

I would love to have someone tell me that I am beautiful, I never hear it.

Do you find yourself hanging out with women who are closer to your size?

I have lost touch with most of my friends. They all are married and have kids now, so it's just not the same. But in general, I had friends of all sizes.

How has your weight affected your sex life, if at all?

No it hasn't.

When you've been single, has your weight affected your dating life?

Yeah, I lack the confidence I should have. Plus the area that I live in is very non accepting of those who are not a size 4 and below.

Do you feel weird if the guy you’re with only dates larger women

Nope, not at all.

Do you feel weird if he's only dated slimmer women before you?

Maybe at first, but in general, no.

Review: Tone Petal Soft Body Wash

Retail Price: Varies by retailer. $3.50-$4.99
Website: http://www.toneskincare.com/

Today we are taking a look at the new Tone Petal Soft Body Wash with Pink Peony & Rose Oil.

I am always trying to find a nice body wash, that has a great scent, and leaves my skin feeling clean, refreshed, hydrated and soft. I was so excited to try this, since I was running low on the current body wash I was using.

First, lets look at the first thing you will see, the actual bottle. Beautifully designed, sleek, and colorful. Easy to grip. Stunning graphics, with vibrant colors. Its visually appealing.

So, how is it to wash with? Glorious! The first thing you notice is its beautiful scent. Light, floral and very feminine. I used about a quarter size amount to wash my entire body. It lathers up very nicely, and gives plenty of suds. I like to leave my body wash on for a few minutes to let the scent really soak in, and I will move on to washing my hair while it sets. The scent of the body wash filled up my entire bathroom, which was really nice. After rinsing it off my body, and drying off, my skin felt much softer, and very supple. I could still smell the scent on me through the day, not too strong, but just faint bits here and there. That brings me to something else that I like about this body wash. It doesn't have the strong perfume type of scent that can sometimes be over powering especially if you are a perfume wearer. This body wash with its light scent easily blended well with my favorite perfume that I sprayed on after.

This body wash gets 5 stars from me because it does exactly what it claims, is affordable in price, and smells like a dream!

Pros: Smells great, good on sensitive skin, leaves skin feeling soft and hydrated, beautiful bottle.
Cons: The scent is faint once on the body. This might be a con for those who like a strong smelling body wash.

Bucco Capensis Severina Wedge Shoe Unboxing

If you have been a follower of my blog for a little bit, then you will know that I had a terrible mess with Hautelook back in December. After the whole debacle, I ended up getting a pair of shoes for free from Hautelook. Today I am going to show you the wedges that I got in a bit of a photo un-boxing style.

These shoes are no longer available on Hautelook, but can still be found at various retailers online. If you are interested in them, just search on Google for "Bucco Capensis Severina Wedges" and you should see the links of websites offering them.

Brand: Bucco Capensis
Color: Taupe
Size: 10

I believe that the price on Hautelook for them was around $20 including shipping. From what I have seen online, they range from $20-$35 depending on where you find them.
Just out of the box. Protective paper over the buckles.

Side view. The toe straps are a lighter tan shade, while the ankle strap is darker in color.
Bottom of the wedges. Metal embellishment on the lower back of them.
Designer logo.
That is it for this un-boxing. I am saving these to wear to a wedding this spring, so in a couple months you will get to see photos of them on and being worn.

Chat: The Flu Has Struck And Thank You!

Well, after going most of the winter without catching the nasty flu viruses that have been running wild here in New England, one flu bug finally caught up with me.

I am lucky that I had a mini vacation anyways, so I have 4 days off from work which is fantastic. But it looks like I will be spending those days snuggling up to a box of tissues and getting cozy with cough drops. I am sort of bummed because I did have some blogs lined up that I wanted to post up for this weekend, but it looks like those will have to wait until yours truly is all better! Once I can breathe and type at the same time, you will see those blogs going up. Keep your fingers, toes and eyes crossed that possibly by Saturday I will be feeling a wee bit better!

Also, I'd just like take a minute and thank 2 groups of people. The first being the lovely people who are starting to follow me on Bloglovin. I had been searching for a while to find a place that hosted "followers" but also included content that I loved and would fit in with. Bloglovin has been that place. I am not new to the whole blogging world, I have had a few websites running beforehand. But with CWL, it meant something more to me, more personal. I wanted to take this blog and run with it. And I want to thank all of those who have been checking it out, following, commenting, and liking my posts. xo

Second, I would like to thank some of the companies that have been reaching out to me to do some product testing and reviews. I am very grateful and thankful for your consideration, and looking to me to represent your company and products. I look forward to working with even more wonderful companies, and again send a huge amount of appreciation to those who already have given me a shot!

I hope you all have a wonderful end of the week!

Chat: Real Plus Size Clothing Models

One thing that I really cannot stand about clothing companies, is how they showcase their plus size clothing. 99% of the time, the model you see wearing their clothes is wearing the smallest size available in plus sizes. Normally I wouldn't even classify the models as being plus size, maybe just thick. Not much of a tummy, arms, legs, etc. Basically a thin chick with a little more meat on her bones.

Now I have no problem with companies using these models, because I know there are plenty of women out there that have that body shape, and are that size. No issue. But for places that offer clothing in 3x and up, I really want to see a model who has a tummy. Who has the flabby arms. Who has some hips, thighs and legs. I want to see the garment being modeled so I can get a idea of what it would look like on me. Clothes that may flatter a person who is a thick size 1x, might look completely horrible on someone at a plump size 5x.

I understand that you can't please everyone. I work in retail, I get that. But I would REALLY love to see companies tossing in a few big girl models, and give us plus size consumers a new view of their products.

So, what made me get on this rant? I was on Zulily browsing today as I often do, and I went into one of their plus size sales. Scrolling through the clothes, I saw images that made me SO happy. Look below.

Yes, let the angels sing. Not just one, but two full figured beautiful plump ladies rocking the clothes. I wanted to jump for joy when I saw this. If I needed a dress for my wardrobe right now, I would totally be considering these garments because I have had the chance to see them on bodies like mine. Now, compare those ladies to the mannequin next to them. That is suppose to represent a plus size body? Are you joking? With those, I really don't want to purchase them because I still have no idea what the garments look like on a true plus size woman.

I truly urge plus size clothing companies to really give this a try. And I also give major applause to the designer / clothing company who used these two beautiful ladies to represent their clothing.

Overview: Using Kitty Caps Nail Covers

If you read my about me section, then you know that I am the proud mom to 2 kitty cats. One is older, and I have had her for years, and her scratching days are well past her. However a few months ago I adopted a younger cat who felt the need to scratch everything she wanted. I am a very humane person, and I don't believe in de-clawing at all. So I started doing some online research about how to get my cat to stop scratching. While doing so, I stumbled upon many people who had pictures of their cats with colorful claws. For fun, I decided to check it out, and read that they were actually nail caps for cats claws. Most people seemed very pleased with them, so on my trip to Petsmart, I decided to pick some up. They were easy to find in store, right in the cat section near the toys. Lucky for me they were on sale, originally $14.99, but on offer for $11.00. They were available in 4 sizes depending on your cat(s) weight. My cat is 2 years old, and weighs about 6 pounds or so. She fell into the Small category. The set I got had pink/white caps and clear with purple sparkle caps, perfect for my little princess! I purchased them and went home to give it a try. The kit comes with 40 total caps (20 of each color), 2 nail glues, 2 applicator tips for the glue, and a instruction booklet. You can either put caps on all 4 paws (front and back) or just the front 2 paws (which is what I did). They are suppose to fall off naturally as your cats nails grow and shed, usually within 4-8 weeks.

I highly suggest that if you have a squirmy cat, have someone help you with this process. Before you start, have scissors on hand, snip the glue tip off, and place the applicator tip over it. Grab out the nail caps you wish to use. As I mentioned above, if your cat is hard to hold by yourself, have someone assist you in this. Have them hold your cat in a position where the cat is comfortable. Also if possible, have the cat distracted while you work on the claws.  If you are able to hold your cat yourself, take your time and try to keep them as calm as possible. The less squirming the better the results. I put my cat on my couch, on her side, and I had her paws facing me. I kept her calm by just patting her first, and within minutes she was fully relaxed and I could begin applying the nail caps.
Taking your nail glue, squeeze just enough glue inside to fill the cap up half way. It is important not to over fill the tip with glue. It could get messy if you do! A little glue goes a long way. Once the glue is in, take your cats nail, and gently push it out so you have access to the entire nail. Slide the nail cap over the nail, and cover the cats nail. Be sure to leave room at the top of your cats nail so it can still retract. Gently gently gently squeeze the nail cap on the side with a light pressure to assure that the nail is set on. Repeat the process on all nails. It is crucial to make sure the cat doesn't squirm around too much, or run off. Give the paws at least 5 minutes to dry before letting your cat run free again.

Your cat may walk weird for the first few minutes once they are on, and they may also try and bite at the caps. I would get my cats attention with a string and keep her mind off the caps. Within 30 minutes she was completely normal, and had no issue with the caps being on her nails at all. She was running, playing, and even trying to scratch.
She has been wearing them for a while, and I have to say I am highly impressed. They work wonderfully. She can scratch things without causing damage, however I still get after her when she does as I am trying to break this behavior, and not just let it continue. Playing with her is also even better now, no more worries of being scratched by accident. Also, her nails just look too darn cute now! It looks like she has a lil manicure going!

So far I have only had to re-glue 1 nail back on. No other issues at all. I highly recommend checking out these out, and trying them on your cat(s).

New Look!

So, take a look around.... whatcha think?

I am in the process of changing to a new template, and while the page is 90% set up how I want it, I still have a few more things left to fix and adjust.

I did purchase this template premade, so naturally I will be giving the company I purchased this from a proper review as soon and I get everything all finished.

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend!
