Review: Life & Food Raw Organic Yacon Root Syrup

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

I swear if someone didn't tell me what this was, I would think it is molasses!

First time trying this I read the back panel and states that it can be used as a dietary supplement, and to take 1 teaspoon 3 times a day. Whoa. The taste by itself straight from the bottle isn't too pleasant! I keep comparing it to molasses, because that is what it reminded me of. Similar a bit in taste, same texture, and color! So I decided to bake with this instead of using it as a dietary supplement. I made some ginger cookies and added in some of the Yacon Syrup. It tasted perfectly great, and everyone who I gave cookies to also didn't taste a difference. Everyone loved them!

Afterwards I started looking up recipes online using Yacon Syrup, and just as I had suspected, a lot of people use it as a molasses substitute. Being that this is very low-cal it is great to use in baking to help cut down on the calories, fat and sugars.

Give this a try, and see what sorts of substitutions you can make with Yacon Syrup!

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
